Thule WingBar Edge vs. WingBar Evo

The Thule WingBar Edge and Thule WingBar Evo are two of the most popular roof rack systems from Thule. The easiest way to think about the difference is that the Edge prioritizes a low-profile, streamlined design, while the Evo gives you more usable crossbar space.

The Edge has no traditional overhang at the ends of the crossbars. This creates a clean appearance, helps reduce wind noise, and keeps the rack sitting close to the vehicle.

The WingBar Evo uses adjustable foot packs that allow the crossbars to extend beyond the feet. That gives you more usable space, which can make a big difference when carrying larger or multiple accessories.

Both are available in black and silver, and for all different roof types. Plus with several different kinds of product packages, the question of 'will it work on my vehicle?' isn't somthing you need to consider.

The Thule WingBar Evo is our most popular Thule crossbar system, largely because it gives you more flexibility. Its adjustable foot packs allow the bars to extend beyond the feet, giving you more usable roof space.

Another big advantage of the Evois its integrated T-Track system. The T-Track is a channel running along the top of the crossbar that allows compatible accessories to slide directly into position and secure to the bar. Instead of having an accessory clamp around the outside of the crossbar, you can use the track for a cleaner, more streamlined mounting setup.

For anyone who regularly changes their gear, this can make a noticeable difference. Adding or removing a compatible bike rack, kayak carrier, or other accessory is straightforward, and you don’t have to work around a bulky end cap or external clamp.

The Evo does produce slightly more wind noise than the Edge, primarily around the exposed ends of the crossbars. That said, it’s still a very quiet system overall.
